.....Pine furniture was and still is popular in southern england, especially when 'old' or 'reclaimed' pine is used. When old buildings were demolished the timber used in the original construction can date 300 years of age or more, the wood itself being more dense than modern pine made it desirable for furniture construction. New pine can also be aged /distressed for colour in furniture making although the grain cannot be replicated.
